The Stuttgart Messe exhibition and trade fair centre is one of the biggest in Europe. Trade shows, sporting events, exhibitions and large meetings are held almost every week all year round here. It is well located, being walking distance from the terminals of Stuttgart Airport, it is also close to the A8 motorway and just 20 minutes from the city centre by commuter train.

Messe Stuttgart hosts several large exhibitions, trade fairs and events. It consists out of seven standard halls measuring 10,500m² and a high hall with a net display area of 26,800m² which is also designed to cater for sports events and concerts.
The exhibition centre also includes a communication and events centre, the Internationale Congresscenter or ICS, which includes a congress hall (4900m²), a congress room (2600m²) and conferencing facilities encompassing 25 meeting rooms.
Location of Messe Stuttgart : Stuttgart Messe New Trade Fair Centre is situated next to the airport, 7 miles south of the city center. Stuttgart city centre is 20 minutes away by S-Bahn train.
The fairground lies next to the A8 motorway.
If you need space to park your car, there are 8200 spaces on the Trade Fair’s grounds, and a further 15,000 parking bays nearby as well.
How to Get to Messe Stuttgart in Germany
By Plane
The messe expo complex lies next to Stuttgart airport. The airport terminals are roughly 200 m from the trade fair centre and congress center grounds and can be easily reached by foot.
Public Transportation
S-Bahn (suburban rail) — the trade fair and congress grounds can easily be reached from Stuttgart central station. Travel with the S2 or S3 in the direction of ‘Flughafen’ (airport) (Filderstadt) / Messe Stuttgart. The S-Bahn takes you to the messe area in 27 minutes.
Bus — you can reach Messe Stuttgart by bus lines 828 Tübingen – Bebenhausen – Dettenhausen – Waldenbuch – Steinenbronn – Echterdingen – Messe/Flughafen, 122 Esslingen – Nellingen – Scharnhausen – Plieningen – Messe/Flughafen, 809 Neuenhaus – Aich – Harthausen – Bonlanden – Bernhausen. Bahnhof -Messe – S-Degerloch, and X3 Expresso Pfullingen – Reutlingen – Pliezhausen – Gniebel – Bernhausen – Messe/Flughafen.
Shuttle Bus — during large public trade fairs and specialist trade fairs there is a shuttle bus, line 78, that operates between Degerloch and the trade fair grounds. You can reach the connection point at Degerloch via the rail lines U5, U6 or U8, with the cog railway or from the vicinity with the bus, from the bus stop Degerloch/B27 (north side of Löffelstrasse) line 78 then takes you directly to the trade fair centre (West bus terminal).
By Train
Stuttgart Hbf Central station is the hub for international north/south and east/west routes. Stuttgart central station is located in the city centre, roughly 13 km from Stuttgart Airport and Messe Stuttgart. It offers frequent rail connections with Saarbrucken, Cologne, Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Kassel, Frankfurt, Hanover, Berlin, Dresden, Nuremberg, and Munich.
From central station to the trade fair centre and congress center — travel on the S-Bahn S2 or S3 in the direction of Stuttgart Flughafen / Messe Stuttgart from Stuttgart central station. The journey time between Stuttgart central station and Messe Stuttgart is 27 minutes. In the future Deutsche Bahn AG is planning the construction of an underground ICE train station in the area between the airport and the trade fair centre and congress center.
By Car
Messe Stuttgart and the ICS are connected directly to the A8 and B27.
From on the A8 motorway — from the Stuttgart direction exit the motorway at the Stuttgart/Degerloch junction and travel on the Messe and airport slip road. Then take the direct access road to the car park via the A8. If approaching from Munich there is a direct exit from the A8 to the car park over the motorway just before the trade fair centre.
From the B27 from Stuttgart/Tübingen — Car parks can be accessed from both directions at the west perimeter of the trade fair and congress grounds. Or continue on the L 1192 into the car park over the A8.

If you’re staying in the area for a few days, why not take time to explore Stuttgart? It is a cosmopolitan city with many things to do and see. Depending on the time of year you can also experience a beer festival – one is held in spring and the other in autumn, or you can join in the wine festival which takes place in the summer.
Visit Stuttgart during winter and the streets are lined with the stalls of a Christmas market.
Germany is well-known for producing top-of-the-range cars and so a trip to the Mercedes Benz or the Porsche Museum is an excellent way to spend a few hours.
For a bit of fun, there is a museum filled from top to bottom with pig-related exhibits which gets rave reviews – and it is aptly called the Schweine-museum. For a few hours of retail therapy, or for gifts to take back home, there is a pedestrian-only street of shops called Konigstrasse.
There are international chain stores and German boutiques, as well as plenty of nice places to grab a coffee and watch the world go by. There are hotels in this area which offer the perfect place to stay near Stuttgart Trade Fair. This part of the city offers plenty to do in the evening as well, and it is only 20 minutes away on the S-Bahn.
When it comes to eating out in Stuttgart, there is almost a limitless choice. There are restaurants to suit every budget and taste, including some of the finest European dining establishments like The Cube which has far-reaching views of the city centre.
You will find German cuisine as well as international favourites. A great selection of wine bars, beer gardens and pubs can be found within walking distance of most hotels, and many of these drinking places have a lovely, traditional German feel. What a great way to round of the day.
